26 August: Women's Equality Day
August'26, widely celebrated as the Women's Equality Day globally, marking the step ahead to social equality of all men and women for the right to vote in the United States. But here's something more to do with equality and the history of this day.
History
On this day the Nineteenth Amendment was passed by the United States of America which allowed women the right to cast their votes. This quoted that, "The right of citizens of United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of sex. Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation". The amendment was passed on 4th June'1919 and later on 18th August'1920, it was corroborated. However, this didn't mark enough to celebrate women's contribution to society. Thus exactly after 50years, on the occasion of the Golden Anniversary, the National Organisation for Women (NOW) then went for a nationwide strike for their rights to equality.
Interestingly after two years of this incident, the 37th President of the United States, Richard Nixon then declared the day 26th of August to be celebrated as Women's Equity Day. And since then the day marked to be important for the contribution of women towards their society and nation.
The Reality of 2021
Isn't it true that women don't need any particular acknowledgement for their contribution when they contribute already more than the majority population of the other gender? Call me a feminist and I will take it with my pride because feminism is not just a word but it has more to do with empathy and not sympathy!
So, Dear Men, Stop Giving the Fake Respect to Women as Leftovers!! Change your perspectives towards women. Stop humiliating the women in your family. Whoever she may be, your Mom, Sister, Wife, Girlfriend or Daughter show equal respect to them not just because they deserve so but to develop yourself than the others. Stop fantasizing to have sex with a random girl sitting next to you in public spaces. Stop humiliating any women. And not just only women, but never to humiliate any men or not even to the LGBTQ as well. All the creatures living on this planet whether humans, animals or plants are simply created by the nature, then Who Has Got the Right to Humiliate? If you really want to bring the change to society, then Be The Change At First!!!
